A newsroom that ranks stories by how fast they spread across independent sources — and shows its own arithmetic.
Feeds that rank by likes measure the crowd. We do not have access to those numbers, and honestly they were never the signal — they are its shadow. What actually marks a story as important is how fast independent newsrooms pick it up.
Pulse watches a few dozen open feeds. Publications about the same event are grouped into one story, and the story gets a score from four things: how many independent sources carry it, how quickly they lined up, how unusual its vocabulary is against the last thirty days, and how old it is.
Every number is printed next to the headline. You can disagree with the ranking — you can see exactly what produced it.
